LUXURY CRAFTMANSHIP
WHO WE ARE?
LUXURY CRAFTMANSHIP
In 2020, Exotic Cues was introduced as a 'LUXURY CRAFTMAN' under the collaboration of Desmond, OUN and Mark. The preparation of this brand took us a year from experiments to final products. We aim to produce only premium and luxury snooker cues that can sustain our customers to play well in the field of snooker.
‘EXOTIC’ means that we search Worldwide to source the most premium exotic woods to make the shafts of our cues and unique woods to craft as the splices. Every shaft of Exotic Cues is limited edition.
The whole process of making an Exotic Cue can take up to 4-6 months from wood selection, drying to crafting. After sourcing from worldwide supplier, we continue to dry the raw and exotic woods in temperature control room for 2 months prior crafting.
QUALITY CONTROL
Our Drying Technique
It is an untold truth that Thailand cue makers have abandoned drying technique due to local hot weather and they prefer natural drying for cost-saving purpose.
However, Exotic Cues begs to differ.
We insist to implement a HUMID CONTROL AND DRYING SYSTEM to control the humidity at the level of 8% for 2 months drying and the result of our experiment also shows that the shaft can become more powerful when excess moisture is removed without over-drying it.
Our drying technique has imposed natural restriction in mass production. That's the reason why we only produce limited Premium Cues.
WHERE WE SOURCE?
Our Suppliers
We have only one ash & maple raw woods supplier, which is Gutchess Lumber. Gutchess Lumber was founded in 1904, has over 116 years of history in producing the world finest ash harvested from UK, Scotland, Canada and USA.
Gutchess Lumber specializes in 11 species of northern hardwoods: White Ash, Basswood, Yellow Birch, Black Cherry and etc. Northern hardwoods are renowned and highly prized for their tight growth rings, rich texture, and consistent and uniform color.
For the splices design, we source our exotic woods from Midwest Walnut (USA since 1929), Augusta Lumber (USA) and Thailand local brands as well as Southeast Asia Lumber Companies. These lumber companies help us to explore the worldwide rare woods such as Lava Wood, Ponga Wood, Thuya Wood and etc.
WHAT WE THINK?
Our Philosophy
For customers who have experience in purchasing Thailand Cues, we understand that most of the Thai Snooker Brands are reluctant to allocate high grade and premium woods to oversea customers and dealers. Nonetheless, this is not the practice of Exotic Cues.
We treat each customer equally without discriminating the background, ethnic, race and gender of our customers. We believe that our oversea customers are entitled for premium woods and we ensure you deserve the best quality of EXOTIC CUES.
WHAT IS OUR QUALITY?
Our Woods
We choose only the First & Second (‘FAS’) highest grade of raw woods based on the America Hardwood Lumber Grading System. The other lower grades lumbers such as F1F, SEL, 1C, 2AC, 2AB and 3AC are not considered to produce Exotic Cues.
We choose the Gutchess FAS - F&B (highest grade) with minimum 80% sap 1 face to make our cues.
The grades of White Ash used to produce Exotic Cues are Grade A++, A+, AAA, AA and A and our cues are priced accordingly.
